The village of Bois-Plage

In this floral village, you can wander through the narrow streets lined with pretty white houses and alleys filled with colour from red, pink and white hollyhocks which adorn the façades from May to September. In summer, Bois-Plage market attracts a crowd every morning. It is the island’s largest market, and an opportunity for campers to enjoy delicious local produce.

A camping holiday in Bois-Plage-en-Ré also means discovering a little-known yet unique heritage: the Bellère Mill, the only mill to still have its sails, the Morinand clock, the Malakoff Tower and the Notre-Dame de Tous-les-Saints church with its stained glass windows decorated with marine motifs.

The pleasures of the sea and the countryside

The beaches stretch over six kilometres of golden sand, behind dunes, maritime pines and holm oaks. The Gros Jonc beach is one of the island’s most beautiful. Do you like walking? Then stroll along the pier on Gollandières beach to admire the sun setting over the sea.

Between Bois-Plage and Sainte-Marie de Ré, the landscape gives way to vines. A stop at the winegrowers’ cooperative is a must to learn more about the history of the viticulture on the island.
